Solution How to Add a Bookmark

There are three ways to add a bookmark (or favorite) to your Sharing Links account:

1. Type it in manually
2. Use the Sharing Links bookmarklet while you are visiting the page you want to save
3. Import your existing bookmarks

Adding a Bookmark Manually

Before you can add a bookmark, you must be logged into your SharingLinks account. To manually add a bookmark, click on the "Add a Bookmark" button in the top menu bar. Fill out the required fields, and be sure to also add tags.

TIP: Tags are keywords that catagorize your listing, and are a very important part of the Sharing Links organization system. If you are accustomed to using Folders to organize your bookmarks, think of tags as your folder names. But tags are more flexible, because a bookmark can have several tags.

TIP: To group bookmarks together (as you might have in your old folder-based bookmarking system) re-use your existing tags. When you are adding a bookmark, a list of your tags is displayed. Simply click on any of those tags to add it to your new bookmark.

For more ideas on working with tags, see About Tags.
Adding a Site While Surfing (Using Bookmarklets)

To easily add bookmarks while you are surfing the Net, you will need to first drag a bookmarklet to your browser's link section (or favorites or bookmarks). Whenever you want to bookmark a site you are visitng, you will simply click the SharingLinks link at the top of your browser.

To find the bookmarklets, go to "Add a Bookmark" and scroll down about mid-page to "Bookmarklets." There are two bookmarklets: one will open SharingLinks in a pop-up window and the other will open SharingLinks in your current window. You can play with both and decide which one you like best.

To install the bookmarklets, simply drag (keeping the mouse button depressed) the bookmarklet to the Links (or Bookmarks or Favorites) top of your browser. Unclick at either your Favorites (also known as Bookmarks) or Links section.

When visiting a site you want to bookmark, simply click on the Sharing Links bookmarklet at the top of your browser.

TIP: For recent versions of Internet Explorer, you will need to add "http://www.sharinglinks.com" to your Trusted Sites before you can drag the bookmarklet to your toolbar.

TIP: Make bookmarking easier by being choosing "Don't ask for my password for 2 weeks" when you login. This will prevent you from having to re-enter your password while bookmarking and surfing.
Importing Your Existing Bookmarks

Your existing bookmarks can be imported from your browser, or from del.icio.us (or any another RSS feed).
